Ivan St Clair

Ivan St Clair is a Director of Treasury Training Services Pty Ltd a business he commenced in 2008 after a brief stint assisting Centro Properties Group as its Acting Chief Financial Officer and 9 years as a Partner and National Leader of Ernst & Young’s treasury advisory business in Australia. Prior to that he was Head of Advisory and Risk Management Services for ANZ Investment Bank.

Ivan has been involved in the finance industry for over 40 years, with a particular focus on Treasury, corporate finance and financial risk management for the last 27 years. He has been running the Understanding Treasury Management course for over 13 years.

Ivan’s key expertise is financial risk management (particularly liquidity, funding, foreign exchange, interest rate and commodity price risk), including the development of policies, procedures, strategies, performance measurement systems and internal control systems. His extensive practical experience and technical expertise have been applied to a range of financial risk management projects including the treasuries of some of Australia’s largest corporations, the hedging and trading operations of many of Australia’s electricity generators and retailers, and the hedging and trading operations of many agri-business entities (including grain, sugar, cotton and beef). Ivan has also sat on a number of financial risk management committees as an independent advisor and also as a Board observer.

Ivan assisted Centro Properties Group as its Acting CFO whilst it successfully secured an extension to its financing facilities. Once the extension was achieved Centro was able to secure the services of a permanent CFO.

Ivan is now focussing on running treasury courses and seminars in Australasia and the Pacific, providing advice on finance and treasury related issues and assisting internal audit teams with their treasury reviews.
